Karson and I being silly!

Karson and Kage where Cowboy's and Indian's this year. Karson wanted to shoot the cowboy (like indians do in the movies he watches with Chance) Kage didn't like that idea very much.

Kage posing he doesn't like me to take his picture so this was a lucky one to get.

Karson on the other hand is a ham...I bet we took 20 pictures with different poses.

This is Karson's "mean warrior" face

American Fork Canyon - Deer Hunt 2009

Chance and I left the boys with Grandma Austin and took to 4-wheeler up AF Canyon on the last weekend of the deer hunt to see what we could see. This picture is at the top at Tngy's Grave...It looks as cold as it was...brrrrr....Nice outfit, but it helped!!!!
It was nice to get away with just Chance and see some pretty amazing country. All we seen were does, fawns, and a baby moose.
Better luck next year ;o)

Banana Cinnamon Chip Cake!

I keep telling Tia how yummy this Banana Cinnamon Chip Cake is, and telling her I will email her the recipe well I never got around to getting it to her so I thought I would just post it...Enjoy ;o)

Ingredients:
  • 3 very ripe bananas
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
For topping:
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees, Butter or spray 8-inch square pan.

In mixing bowl, mash the bananas, add the eggs, and mix well. Add the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add 3/4 of the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the pan and set aside.

In a small bowl, stir together the topping ingredients. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the batter in the pan, and top with the remaining chocolate chips.

Bake 35-40 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted into the center comes out clean. YUMMY!!!!

No More Training Wheels!

Karson decided he wanted to try to ride his bike with out the training wheels so Chance took them off and sure enough he was ready. He did so good, Chance did a great job teaching him how to balance and get his feet started. I am so proud of Karson, he is growing up so fast. He's a 4 year old that thinks he's 12...

Camping!

We went camping with Lisa & Scott Orr and Leesa & Jon Holland up Fairview Canyon.
It was beautiful, we got rained on Thursday and Friday night, it seems like every time we go camping it rains...It sure makes everything green and pretty but what a mess to clean up...Good thing Chance has a power washer!!!!

Karson thought it was pretty cool that Chance carved his and Kage's name in the tree and that they could come back and see it all the time.

Karson taking a break from riding his 4-wheeler. He had his first crash this trip. There are tons of great 4-wheelin trails to ride, Karson, Lexie, Madison and I went on a little trail and we were going down a hill, Karson hit a rock and flew over the handle bars of his 4-wheeler and broke the key. Good thing for helmets. It scared him a little bit, but I guess a little crash is a good thing to keep him realizing that it can happen.

BBQ

We had one more little get together on Friday night with Chance's family before his sister Brianne went back to Alaska. Brianne came to visit and was here for about 3 weeks, it was fun to get to spend some time with her and hear about her experiences in Alaska.

Kage eating Corn on the Cob...The best way to cook it is on the BBQ. Yummy!!!

As per your request here is how we do our corn:

  • Cut off and trim the fuzzy part of the husk (so it doesn't catch on fire)
  • Soak corn in water for about 1 hour
  • Put directly on the BBQ until husk is brown (We have never really timed it, its usually done the same time as the Hamburger's - about 45 min.)

Pony Express Day's 2009 - Parade

The Parade was pretty long (about 2 hours!). There were about 140 entries for our little town. Here are a few pictures of the boys waiting patiently. Chance you are a good sport. Thank you for being such a great dad!

Pony Express Day's 2009 - Rides

Another year for the Pony Express Day's in Eagle Mountain.

Kage loved the slide, he laughed all the way to the bottom. In this picture I am not sure who is laughing the hardest. Karson, Island, Kage or me.

Island and Karson wanted to ride on the Tornado so we let them...I think they were a little nervous at first but my fearless little Karson loved it.

The "Big" Catch

We decided to take the boys fishing on Sunday so we all loaded up in the Tahoe and went up American Fork Canyon, but when we got there is was so crowed there were no fishing spots left. So Chance took us to a park in Highland. It was perfect, grass, beautiful views, and not alot of people. The only problem was there is not alot of fish. We caught a few 2 inchers, Chance was so proud they caught something....Kage wanted to play with it and wasn't scared to touch it...They are all BOY!!! Karson of course wanted to catch the "big" fish.

It was beautiful with the snow peak mountains in the background and warm weather...

Kage was trying to scare the ducks away so if he was telling them to "go away" as he was flipping the bird, Chance thinks its so funny how he does it. I guess not everyone would know what he actually is trying to do....

A Day at the Park

On Friday after work the boys and I stopped by the park in Saratoga Springs to let the boys play for a minute. Karson is such a social butterfly that he was talking to everyone that came by: "What's your name?, What are you doing here? My name is Karson" and on and on and on....Kage is a little more shy its a great balance ;o)

Another T-Ball Game

We had another T-Ball game on Saturday and Karson is getting pretty good at hitting the ball, pretty hard he is a strong 4 year old. He nailed the ball and the kid on the other team wasn't paying attention and got hit in the stomach. After Karson was done running the bases I told him to go tell the little boy he was sorry for hitting him. My sweet boy marches right on over to tell him he was sorry gave him high five and knuckles and comes back so proud of himself. He is such a great sport and not shy at all..

Memorial Day

Well since we were home early from our camping trip because of the rain, we decided to go pay our respects to Chance's family. Every year Chance has put a bullet on his dad's headstone. This year Karson & Kage got to put the bullets on. Karson asks alot of questions about his Grandpa Thayne always wanting to know where he is and why he died. Thayne died from MS in April 2000 way to young.

The boys needed a drink after walking around the cemetery.
